Last weekend on Friday, March 30 we drove to Alva, OK and had a few detours getting there and plenty of rain, but we made it in plenty of time for the rehearsal that we had for the wedding that was the following day, March 31. It was nice to awake to a clearing sky that turned out to be a beautiful day for Keri and Billy's wedding day.
The day started bright and early at "The Wild Hair Salon" for Keri to get her hair and make-up done. Finishing ahead of schedule Keri headed over to the church to attend to a few more details. The day went very smooth and less stressful once Billy got to see Keri in her dress for the first time that day. We were able to go to many places around the church including a gazebo in the back and a wishing well across the street. Keri took a few minutes to breathe and take it all in as she sat in the pews with her heals draped over. The ceremony consisted of Reverend Shane Tharp giving the service and the beautiful sun peeped through the windows of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church as Keri and Billy exchanged their vows. Immediately following, the guests lined up outside of the church with bubbles to send the couple away with.
The reception was in the hall of the church hosted by Keri's parents, Pat and Kathy McGuire. Pat mentioned that he had been very busy and to say the least we would say he really had been! He had enough food (and more) prepared to feed all the guests consisting of barbecue beef, ham, potato salad, coleslaw, and more. After all the formal events during the reception Keri and Billy wanted to go find a swing to have fun in with Billy pushing Keri. This was Keri's wish of all day to get a picture of. We drove around and found a school playground with swings (only ones that weren't muddy). It was a blast and as they said for themselves they are truly "Kids at Heart". We loved you guys and we are so glad we got to partake in your special day. We were able to get a lot of amazing shots.
Thanks again!

Staci and Mike have really been a joy to work with. They are truly a couple that sparkle when around one another. The day started at the salon with bridal party, mom's and friends who showed up to join in on the celebration with Staci.
After they had a private moment with one another we were able to grab a few pics at a near by park in between sprinkles. This of course didn't dampen their spirits. We then headed back to The First United Methodist Church for a few more pics. The ceremony was a beautiful occasion including the groom's brother, David, singing "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds as the wedding party entered wearing a light lilac strapless with shawl.
The reception followed after the couple greeted all the guests as they went down for the continued celebration in the church's hall. The hall was where Staci and Mike first met. This made it extra special to them to spend time with friends and family on their day. The passion was made apparent as they entered to the playing of the K-State fight song.
Staci had a couple of surprises for her new husband Mike. They all played out perfect and he was really surprised to first see that she had a custom made Volkswagon Bug as a groom's cake special made just for him. He loves and collects VW bugs as we had been informed of weeks earlier. It was neat to see his expression as he came to see the cake table. A little later was another surprise for Mike that had been kept a secret by many guests. This one was played out after we "asked if they wanted to go outside for a few more pictures". This was all part of the surprise. Little did Mike know that Staci had made a connection with one of the guests to bring an antique VW bug to go away in on their wedding day.
We are really glad we were able to be with you guys to capture your wedding day and all the little special surprises/memories that were included with in it.

On St. Patrick's Day, we were the lucky ones to be part of Austin & Kayla's wedding at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Kayla wore a green garter for luck under her beautiful criss-crossed spaghetti strapped satin, lace & sequin gown. And Austin couldn't wait to put his lucky shamrock hat back on at the reception. We heard it was a rare occasion to see Austin w/out a hat on - not to mention a tuxedo! There were many special touches making their wedding a celebration of love and family. Kayla's Mom added two special touches to Kayla's spring flower bouquet, including a piece of lace from her own wedding gown and the wedding rings of Kayla's grandparents. They had candles lit on the alter in honor of their deceased grandparents along with Kayla's great-grandmother's bible. Austin's younger siblings did a great job as the Jr. bridesmaid, Jr. groomsman and ring bearers - along with the adorable flower girls with petal filled skirts. You couldn't help but go, "aaahhh" when the youngest ringbearer and flower girl were wheeled down the aisle in the eleborately decorated wagon.
The wedding was full of surprises for everyone. Austin was like a kid in a candy store the minute he saw the John Deere tractor Kayla rented to surprise him and to have the guys' pictures taken on. Then, Austin surprised Kayla with an Irish Blessing at the end of the beautiful candlelight ceremony. After the ceremony, Austin drove Kayla off into the sunset in a vintage yellow and white 57 Chevy. They drove to Riverside park where we were able to get some great shots of them in the park and around the reflecting pond.
The final surprise was at the reception when the couple surprised both sets of parents with a fun video by Fat Cat Productions, detailing how they met and thanking their parents for their support and love.
Kayla & Austin, thanks again for letting us be part of your special day. This is our Irish wish for you: May each of your days be touched with a bit of luck, brightened by a song in your heart, and warmed by the smiles of people you love.
And in honor of the happy couple we would like to wish all of you the following Old Irish Blessings:
May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, may Gold hold you in the palm of His hand.
